FUN Day

Date: May 30, 2018
Location: School Grounds
Time: ​8:50 (Morning Bell) to 2:00 (Early Dismissal)

Fun Day is a school run event as a fun way to end the year. Each student is assigned to a multi-grade house team. Once you are on a team, you remain on the same team for your entire time at Montroyal. All siblings are placed on the same team.

Teams are based on BC sports teams and have specific colours:
Whitecaps - green
Canucks - yellow
Canadians - red
Lions - blue


Teams are evenly divided by the school team and communicated by the classroom teacher for kindergarten and new students.

Parents are invited to watch the events. Popular times are watching the team cheers in the morning or after lunch to watch the friendship race and grade competitions.

Students are required to bring:
  • lunch
  • water bottle
  • sunscreen & hat (dress for weather)
  • safety pin for name tag

The MPAC funds the snacks throughout the day (an apple, gummies at recess and Maxi Fruit Popsicle at the end of the event. 

T-Shirts

Students are requested to wear their team colours this can be:
  • Wearing a t-shirt from their wardrobe
  • Purchasing a t-shirt of the requested colour on your own
  • Fun day t-shirt trade in 
    • Box in lobby for donations of old t-shirt, families can take from what is available free of charge. Box will be out May 14 till May 30
  • Purchase spirit wear in team colour for $10 CLICK HERE
    • Delivery May 29th to your child's class

Schedule of events: 
8:45 - 9:00 : Attendance
9:00 : Students go to upper field for opening ceremonies
9:15 : Team cheers (teams have practiced their cheer and choreography for weeks before) Camera worthy moment. 
9:30 : Preschool Race (Strong Start and siblings are invited to participate in a running race) everyone wins a prize
9:35 : Students divide into their teams and rotate to grade 7 lead stations
10:20-10:40 :  Recess students receive an apple and a gummy package in their class (if your child will not eat these items please advise them to eat something from their lunch) Thank you to Save-On Foods for the Apple donation.
10:40 : Students return to their activity stations
12:00 - 12:55 : Students come back into the school for lunch
1:00 : Students return to upper field for the following highlights:
  • Friendship Race - the 2 intermediate students carry  their primary student counterpart to the finish line, the team that is able to transfer their team mates the fastest have bragging rights till the end of school. Camera worthy moment.
  • Hula Hoop Contest - each grade is invited to show off their hula hoop skills also a camera worthy moment
  • Grade 7 vs Staff Tug of War - the right of passage to leaving Montroyal is the Tug of War, grade 7 parents worth coming to see and parents of other grades watch your child's expression as they see their teacher in a new light.
1:45: Students return to class and receive a Maxi Fruit Popsicle (Lime, Raspberry, or Mango) Class will receive a mix of flavours. (no requests)
2:00 : Student dismissal


If you child will not be attending the event, please advise your classroom teacher in advance if possible, much planning goes into setting up smaller rotating teams.
