Move It Team - Traffic Patrol

The Move It Team is a joint effort between the School Administration and our Grade 5 parent and student volunteers. This program promotes active transportation, and provides a safer place for all of our children during arrival / departure times at Montroyal. The program also provides an opportunity for the student patrollers to learn leadership and teamwork skills, and to develop maturity.

Each year, children travel to and from school almost 400 times. This can lead to concerns about pedestrian and traffic safety around schools.

BCAA works with schools and school districts to increase the safety of students and their families when traveling to and from school. The Foundation’s School Safety Patrol Program provides safety patrol equipment, training materials and student resources to train students on standard patrol procedures and recommended safety practices. Students in grade five learn to properly direct traffic through the pick-up zone.
In addition, the program addresses environmental and health concerns by decreasing dangerous traffic congestion, reducing harmful vehicle emissions and encouraging students to choose more physically active modes of travel to school.

Shifts are 45 mins or less.
