MPAC Parents Feedback Survey

The MPAC Parents feedback Survey is coming April 23rd!! Get those thoughts together and charge those laptops.  Feedback from this SHORT online survey will guide next years MPAC Executive to set priorities, so be sure to have your voice heard!

IMPORTANT: Handsworth Update

At the meeting on April 15th there was a single neighbour opposing the proposed building permit and...the permit did not pass.  The NVSD is communicating with neighbours of the school about the benefit of the proposed track and field.  
We need parents to communicate that they are in favour of keeping the 6 lane track and field and having the building permit approved.  This will ensure that the capital project can proceed in a timely matter.  It is important that we as a community communicate our support!  Emails can be sent here.

LGBTQ+ Awareness

Do you think LGBTQ+ awareness and understanding is something you already have, or don’t need? Did you know that 1 in 5 BC students identify as not exclusively heterosexual? If that’s not your kids, it’s your kid’s friends... or your friend’s kids! Has your child or teen ever felt excluded or isolated? Isolation is difficult for anyone, but LGBTQ+ kids face this at home, at school, and in this neighbourhood. Let’s work together to build communities and homes that welcome diversity and discover how compassion and connection benefit every child and every parent.

The Secret Path

On April 29th the Indigenous Education Team is hosting a screening of The Secret Path at Centennial Theatre at 6:30pm. Mike Downie and Pearl Wenjack will be present to participate in the discussion following the film. Tickets are free, BUT seats are limited. Click here to get your tickets and for more info. 

Term 3 Programs

44 Dresses Project

Everyone else is doing it!! So why not clean out your closet for a good cause?  44Dresses Boutique Day is Tuesday, April 29th, 2019. Click here to read more about how cleaning out your closet can help a NVSD
Gr 7 student have a special outfit for their Farewell event.  It's not just about the dresses...anything you feel would help create a magical outfit for any student would be welcome! Ms Gill has kindly offered to take any clothing you wish to donate on your behalf.  Clothing has to be well presented on hangers...the project creates a true feeling of "shopping" for this event.  So clean out those closets..and let's help all the Gr 7's have a wonderful farewell!

Handsworth Rebuild Updates

​Announced Jan 2018 Handsworth will be fully rebuilt with a competition date of Aug 2021. The $62.3 million project is a collaborative effort by SD44, School Board, Ministry of Education and the DNV. The project does not include the sports field, furniture or outdoor lighting.
