MPAC Fundraising Achievements (2013-2014)

Picture
Last year was very successful in terms of fundraising which was, for the most part, as a result of the Parent Social held at the Rugby Club, Hot Lunch and various other smaller fundraising initiatives.  The full 2013/14 results can be found here.

In 2013/2014, the MPAC, as part of its annual approved budget, purchased:
  • nearly $5,000 of extra supplies for each and every classroom;
  • $1,500 worth of new books for the library;
  • portable curtains for the musical productions;
  • a xylophone for the music program; and
  • portable traffic safety signs.
That is approximately $8,000 of much needed new items and technology for our kids!  Thank you to all who helped raise the funds!

Last year was packed with workshops, speakers, etc.  This included two performance productions (Blueberries, Paperboy Princess), a week long dance instruction clinic with Kelly Richardi, the Gymsense program, a social media awareness seminar with Jesse Miller and a seminar by Josh Drean on defeating bullying.  The PAC also organized the well-attended "Project LunchBox" seminar for parents on packing a healthy lunch for our children.

In total, we were able to cover all of our annual operating costs and wind up with a very healthy surplus of $17,703.

At our October 16, 2014 PAC meeting, membership approved the transfer of this surplus to our technology reserve, raising its balance to over $40,000.  At our next PAC meeting in November, details will be provided for the new technology plan, which will include an overhaul of the existing computer lab.
