Dear parents/guardians of Band and Strings students,
A new parent committee is being formed for the North Vancouver School District Band and Strings program. The purpose of this committee is to support field trips, concerts and events, and to share successes and news. If you are interested in joining or if you are interested in receiving information from this committee, please email Kulvir to provide her with your contact information. Band & Strings AGM meeting on Monday, November 21 at 7:00pm at the Education Services Centre (2121 Lonsdale Ave).
Concert Dates:
Evening Christmas Concert: December 5 - 6:30 pm @ Canyon Heights Elementary
This is the final concert for the term. We invite parents and family to join us!
Band Council:
Students are encouraged to join the newly formed band council. Band Council meets once a month for part of one recess or lunch as is an opportunity for students to give input and get involved with the band program with activities other than simply coming to class and playing. Last year students chose the repertoire that we will be performing this year.

The Elementary Band and Strings program is a unique instrumental music program that is distinct to the North Vancouver School District. The Program provides school-based instrumental instruction to students in the intermediate grades (Grades 4-7). Its primary objective is to provide the best possible instrumental music instruction to as many children as possible in our community. The Elementary Band and Strings program is one of the finest instrumental programs in British Columbia.
Students usually enter the Band and Strings program in Grade 4 (Strings) and Grade 5 (Band) and continue through to Grade 7. Students receive two lessons a week. The Band and Strings program provides school-based instrumental instruction and is funded by supplemental fees. .
